Bio
Nick Sienkiewicz (he/they) is a New York City based conductor and music director. Nick received his Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Indiana University, and his undergraduate degrees in voice and biochemistry from Western Michigan University. He studied conducting with Chris Albanese, Betsy Burleigh, Dominick DiOrio, Kimberly Dunn Adams, Walter Huff, Austin McWilliams, and Ted Sperling. At just 25 years old, Nick has prepared choruses for major concert venues with full orchestra, including Carnegie Hall. Nick has led a variety of choruses including the Kalamazoo Children's Chorus' Coro de Niños, NYC's Youth Pride Chorus, the Lehigh Valley Chorale, and Indiana Universities NOTUS, Singing Hoosiers, and All Campus Chorus. Notable works conducted and prepared by Nick include John Rutter's Magnificat, The Hope of Loving by Jake Runestad, O Heiland, Reiss by Johannes Brahms, and the Vonnegut Requiem.
As a vocalist and pianist, Nick has performed around the country with a variety of choruses. Most significantly, Nick has performed as Matthew Shepard twice in Craig Hella Johnson's fusion oratorio, Considering Matthew Shepard. His voice can also be heard in NOTUS' album What is Ours: Music for An America in Progress on Moira Smiley's Wire You Here, first premiered by Nick at the ACDA Midwest Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Nick is currently a tenor with Trinity Wall Street's semi-professional ensemble, Downtown Voices. Nick has sang at major venues in NYC, including Feinstein's 54 Below.
With significant experience in music direction, Nick's proficiency behind the keyboard and at the podium has led him to working at several regional theatres including Farmers Alley Theatre, The Barn Theatre, and Timberlake Playhouse. Nick works actively as a keyboard programmer, with memorable projects including SpongeBob SquarePants, and the amateur premiere of The Other Josh Cohen. Nick made his NYC Music Directing debut in 2023 with "Live, Laugh, Lie." Most recently, Nick served as the music assistant for the Off-Broadway "Still Standing" and the Broadway-bound musical workshop, Hippest Trip: The Soul Train Musical.
Nick's research has led to presentations at national and international conferences including the College Music Society, the European Association for Music in Schools, and the American Choral Director's Association. As an author, Nick has three published articles, currently within Choral Journal and Choral Scholar. Nick also serves the ACDA Eastern Region as the Interest Session Chair for the 2024 Conference in Providence, RI.
Nick currently serves as the Director of the Youth Pride Chorus, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Lehigh Valley Chorale, and a Music Instructor for the New York Film Academy's Professional Conservatory of Musical Theatre.
